ZHL Single-Stage Centrifugal Compressor | Single-Stage High-Speed Compressor
Energy-efficient centrifugal compressor, with pressure ratings up to 2 bar(g)/29 psig.
What is a single-stage centrifugal air compressor?
Centrifugal air compressors utilize Centrifugal force generates flow and pressure. Centrifugal technology is a highly efficient method for producing compressed air.
The gearbox, equipped with a main drive shaft, is driven by an electric motor. Together, the gearbox and the main drive shaft power a high-speed shaft fitted with one or more impellers. A single-stage centrifugal compressor has only one impeller and can generate Pressure up to 2 bar(g) The air.
What is the difference between single-stage and two-stage compressors?
The term “stage” refers to the number of compression stages through which air passes to achieve the desired pressure. In a compressor, high-speed rotating impellers generate dynamic pressure buildup. The number of impellers and the number of stages depend on the required discharge pressure.
For those who need For applications at 2 bar(g) or lower pressure, a single impeller or a single-stage pump is used. The compressor is sufficient to meet the pressure requirements. Use Two-stage or three-stage compressor , it can achieve higher pressure.
What makes our single-stage centrifugal oil-free air compressor unique?
By designing our ZHL, we aim to provide a more energy‑efficient solution for applications requiring flow rates of 7,000 m³/h or greater and pressures not exceeding 2 bar(g)/29 psig. Thanks to its innovative design, our compressor ensures efficient air delivery even when your process demands fluctuate.
In addition, our machines have obtained Class 0 oil-free certification, ensuring that your process receives high‑quality, oil‑free air.
The outstanding dual-seal design ensures the production of high‑quality air. Thanks to the oil seal and gas seal, lubricating oil does not enter the impeller, thereby guaranteeing the supply of oil‑free air that meets Class 0 certification.
Sustainable production processes
Energy costs account for as much as 80% of a compressor’s total life-cycle cost. That’s why we design compressors that are as energy‑efficient as possible—benefiting both the planet and delivering a strong return on investment. Ensuring your compressed‑air system operates with maximum energy efficiency is an effective way to make your production processes more sustainable.
Sustainability is at the heart of our design process:
• Centrifugal compressors feature our proprietary backward‑curved impeller design, delivering outstanding performance across all power and pressure ratings. A variety of impeller types enables you to select the right compressor for a wide range of applications. With our extensive portfolio of impeller options, we can optimize compressor performance to meet your specific requirements, no matter how complex or variable the operating conditions may be.
• Our ZHL centrifugal compressors are driven by a variety of high-efficiency motors. Low-voltage models (up to 560 kW) come equipped with star–delta starters. A range of motor options is available, including air-cooled and water-cooled variants.
• Inlet guide vanes can efficiently modulate flow, readily adapting to fluctuating air demand. Compared with inlet valves, adjustable inlet guide vanes can achieve energy savings of up to 9%. Controlled by servo‑motor‑based actuators, these vanes provide cost‑effective, reliable flow regulation across the compressor’s entire operating range, ensuring optimal performance for diverse air‑demand requirements.
• Our aftercoolers combine compactness, low approach temperatures, and very low pressure drops, enabling maximum overall energy efficiency.
A carbon-neutral production process
In addition to its energy-efficient core design, our single-stage centrifugal compressors can be integrated with energy recovery systems and central and/or machine control systems, further reducing the carbon footprint of the production process.
・ Compressors in operation inevitably generate heat. Installing an energy recovery system can help you reclaim up to 94% of this waste heat. Without recovery, this thermal energy would be dissipated into the atmosphere via the cooling system and radiative losses. Our energy recovery units use compressed‑air heat to produce hot water, which can be used for sanitary purposes, space heating, or reused elsewhere in your production process.
・ Our Elektronikon® unit controller’s standard control‑optimization algorithm effectively maximizes the machine’s operating range. This helps reduce exhaust emissions and improves energy efficiency across all operating conditions.
・ ZHL compressors can be easily integrated with our Optimizer 4.0 central controller. The central controller ensures proper load distribution across multiple compressors, resulting in reduced wear, enhanced control options, and lower energy consumption.
