What is the working principle of a Roots blower?
The Roots blower is a positive-displacement blower (also known as a PD-type blower) renowned for its high reliability.
Thanks to its simple design, the Roots blower offers advantages in both initial capital investment and maintenance costs, making it a cost‑competitive solution. Its operating sequence begins with air entering the unit through a silencer equipped with an integrated intake filter. This silencer, featuring an integrated intake filter, prevents backflow into the environment, dampens pulsations, and ensures smooth blower operation. Straight‑cut timing gears eliminate axial thrust, guaranteeing trouble‑free performance.
Ultimately, the air flows through the outlet silencer, ensuring low-noise emissions. An automatic belt tensioning system ensures that the drive belt—used to transmit power from the motor to the main unit—remains tightly wrapped around the pulleys at all times. Our Roots blower units can be easily connected to your existing piping network via stainless steel expansion joints.
